PART II: You Must Be Born-Again

How To Get Into Heaven

How to Get into Heaven or the ABCs of salvation

A. Admit you are a sinner and repent of your sins.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Luke 13:5 “I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

Please note that you do not need to “clean up” your life before you can be saved; you merely need to repent and believe to be saved. Repent means to turn away from your sinful life. Believe means to believe that the Lord Jesus died to pay for your sins.

Mark 1:15 and saying, “ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

B. Believe Jesus is God in human flesh and believe salvation is only available through Jesus Christ.

John 10:30 “I and the Father are one.”

John 14:6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

John 3:16–18   16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

C. Confess that you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior

Romans 10:9–10   9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

After you read steps A, B, and C above, then you should pray the following prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ,
I admit that I am a sinner and I repent of my sins.
I believe that you are God in human flesh and that your death on the cross paid for all
my sins: past present and future.
I believe that the forgiveness of sins and eternal life (salvation) are only available
through your finished work on the cross, Jesus Christ.
I accept you Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.

I suggest that you write down the date and time that you said the above prayer because in coming years you will want to know the day you became a born again Christian.

Understand what has just happened to you.

Ephesians 2:8–9   8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

1 John 5:11–12   11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

John 3:3–5   3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
