Ch. 17 Christians Are No Longer Under the Law

Christians are no longer under the Law

When a Christian says they are “no longer under the Law” they are saying they are no longer trying to make themselves acceptable to God by performing the works of the Law; two key verses related to this are:

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

Where is the Law in relation to Christians?

The Law is nailed to the cross.

Colossians 2:14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

The truth will set you free from bondage to sin under the Law.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

The Glory of the New Covenant

2 Corinthians 3:6–11   6 who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. 10 For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it. 11 For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory.
